"All I'm saying is, it seems pretty impossible to shoot a bull's-eye from that far away, let alone while moving."

Thud. A sleek gray arrow hit just out of the bull's-eye mark on the target, echoing across the dank, gray, lifeless room. The able-bodied man holding the bow cursed.

A short girl with an enormous mound of red hair snickered. Her companion, a taller, tan girl with a  brown braid hit her on the arm. "Merida!" she said, snickering. "You made him mess up!" More snickering.

The man with the bow glared at the girls. Under his breath, he muttered, "Girls…" He shot again, this time, barely hitting the target at all. Merida and Katniss burst into hysterical laughter.

Clint Barton rolled his eyes. "This is a right-handed bow, isn't it?"

Katniss stifled her laughing long enough to answer, "Of course it is, silly!" She rolled her eyes back and readied her own bow to fire.

At the last second before she fired, Barton stepped up behind Katniss, and gave her a shove, causing her to miss her target.

She whipped around, yelling, "Barton!"

Holding her own bow in a firing position, Merida looked at Barton. "Aww, c'mon, Clint," she said. "That was cruel."

Hawkeye gave her a look that said, "Really?", as if they had known each other for years. He said, "Oh really, Miss I-Can-Shoot-Over-Long-Distances-While-Riding-A-Horse?"

Katniss looked at him. "Yes, it was, Mister High-and-Mighty-SHIELD-Agent," she said. "What is SHIELD, anyway?"

"Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division."

Merida's face contorted in a puzzled expression. "Whaa?"

Katniss' eyes grew big. "I'm sorry I asked."

An awkward silence enveloped the group for several minutes. Merida was the one to break the silence. "On that…strange note, how about I go ahead and show you up at distance shooting Mr. Barton?"

Hawkeye nodded. "I'll take you up on that offer." He backed up a substantial distance, with Merida following at his heels.

He looked at the target and paused. "But first…it's time for some real firepower."

Crossing over to a large duffel bag, Barton pulled out what looked to be a large, folded metal instrument, and a quiver of arrows.

"Let's see…" He rummaged through his quiver for an arrow. "Stunners, grappling, poison…"

Katniss squeaked. "Poison?!"

Ignoring her, Barton pulled out a slim-looking arrow. "Aha!" he said. "Distance arrow." He stood, holding the large,  folded piece of metal. He flicked his wrist, and the metal unfolded into a complicated-looking type of bow.

Merida and Katniss stood in silence, staring at the bow. Merida tilted her head. "What kind of bow is that?"

Hawkeye readied the bow. "Standard issue."

Katniss leaned over to Merida and said, "Wow. SHIELD must really be all it's cracked up to be."

"It is," Barton answered. He put himself in a firing position. "You ready?"

Merida readied her own bow. "When you are."

Katniss moved closer to the two. "Shall I referee?" she asked.

Hawkeye nodded. "Knock yourself out."

"Alright then." In a sarcastic, monotone announcer's voice, she said, "Archers, at your ready!"

Merida and Hawkeye pulled back their bowstrings as Katniss shouted, "And….fire!"

The arrows were fired, with Barton's hitting the target just before Merida's. Katniss stepped up the two targets. "Mother of God…" Both arrows had hit the center of their bull's-eyes.

Another silence filled the room as Merida walked up to the near wall and slammed her head on it.

Hawkeye blew out a breath. "Okay, maybe that wasn't such a great idea…"

Merida looked up from the wall. "Oh, really?" To Katniss, she said, "It's a wonder why SHIELD decided t hire him.."

Barton laughed. "Very funny, Merida." He dropped his bow. "I would mess with your hair, but I'm afraid that my hand might get lost…"

Merida rolled her eyes. "Oh, ha ha. Since when did you turn into my dad?"

"Since about an hour ago, when we were stuck in this room together. I'm not so sure that Katniss is the best choice for a chaperone…"

Katniss looked over, holding Barton's bow. "What are you saying about me over there, mister?"

Hawkeye gave her an innocent look. "Nothing."

She rolled her eyes. "If you say so…" She notched an arrow into the bow. "Hey, how do you aim this thi-"

The arrow shot from the bow, and a loud crashing noise resounded through the room.

Merida looked at Katniss, then at Barton. "HIDE."
Entry one of two entries for the D#disney-club's crossover contest! I decided to do a crossover involving Katniss (The Hunger Games), Merida (Disney/Pixar's Brave), and Hawkeye (Marvel's The Avengers). It is the year of the archer, you know.

Characters are a little OOC, but I enjoyed writing this.

I'd like to mention a little something that helped me to write this. It's a book called 'Spilling Ink', by Anne Mazer and Ellen Potter, and it's a young writer's handbook. It doesn't matter that it says 'Young Writer's Handbook', it's extremely helpful. It helped me to get through a big bout of writer's block. I suggest that you go out an =d boy yourself a copy, whether you're a kid or not.

Oh, and I also edited the picture myself using PicMonkey.
